Comparison of the effects of maximal hemorrhage and maximal sodium nitroprusside on hemodynamic variables and transcranial motor-evoked potential (TcMEP) amplitude. Data are expressed as percent of baseline values, as mean ± SD, in the seven animals given sodium nitroprusside. Hemorrhage and sodium nitroprusside produced similar reductions of mean arterial pressure (MAP; P = 0.75). Hemorrhage led to greater reduction of cardiac output (P = 0.002), oxygen delivery (P = 0.0047), and TcMEP amplitude (P = 0.0076).
