ROS generation was measured, 6 h after reoxygenation, by flow cytometry using the fluorescent dye 2′,7′-dichlorofluorescin diacetate (DCFH-DA). The oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)–reoxygenation sequence induced a significant increase in fluorescence intensity of DCFH-DA. Sevoflurane 3.4 mm induced a significant increase in fluorescence intensity of DCFH-DA on sham wash (SW), but reduced (0.15–3.4 mm) the OGD-reoxygenation–induced increase in ROS generation when added during the OGD.
