Table 1. Endothelium-dependent and -independent Vasodilation
All data are mean ± SD. The effects of lipopolysaccharide with and without isoflurane (1.4% for 30 min) pretreatment on endothelium-dependent and -independent vasodilation with acetylcholine and sodium nitroprusside in rats as stated by the change in MAP (ΔMAP).
* Lipopolysaccharide significantly (P < 0.05) decreased the baseline in MAP compared with control and isoflurane–lipopolysaccharide.
† Isoflurane–lipopolysaccharide baseline is significantly less than controls but greater than lipopolysaccharide alone.
‡ The ΔMAP for lipopolysaccharide is significantly (P < 0.05) less than control.
§ The ΔMAP for isoflurane–lipopolysaccharide is significantly (P < 0.05) greater than lipopolysaccharide alone.
∥ The ΔMAP for isoflurane–control is significantly (P < 0.05) greater than control.
MAP = mean arterial pressure.
