Easy : Fiberscope well aligned for visualization of the cords and little or no manipulation of the fiberscope tip is required to enter the trachea. Intubation is achieved on the first attempt.
Moderately difficult : Some manipulation of fiberscope in all directions is necessary to locate the glottis and enter the trachea. Intubation is achieved with one or two attempts.
Difficult : Extensive manipulation of the fiberscope in all directions is necessary to identify the vocal cords and enter the trachea. Intubation is achieved in two attempts or more.
