In late May 2022, the global health community descended on Geneva for the 75th meeting of the World Health Assembly (WHA). Following two years of COVID-enforced virtual meetings, this was the first opportunity for many to break free from the confines of virtual meetings and discuss global health issues in person.
The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA), as an organization in official relations with the World Health Organization, is invited to participate in the WHA as a non-state actor (NSA). NSAs can attend the open WHA meetings within the UN's Palais des Nations and, more importantly, represent their specialty's interests by making verbal statements to the assembly floor on WHA agenda items that are relevant to them.
