Education is an essential part of the Committee on Global Humanitarian Outreach (GHO). Although COVID-19 has changed many aspects of international travel and work, there is still an immense need for safe surgery and anesthesia worldwide (asamonitor.pub/3C2symk). Efforts by ASA members and other global anesthesia partners such as the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) should be an inspiration for all of us (ASA Monitor 2022;86:14-5; ASA Monitor 2022;86:40). In this report, we highlight activities of the GHO Resident International Anesthesia Scholarship recipients.
In October 2021, Edward C. Clune, MD, was awarded the Nicholas M. Greene, MD, Award for Outstanding Humanitarian Contribution (ASA Monitor 2021;85:1-7).
