The state of America has me, a young Black professional, questioning what this great country truly represents. I love the idea of America – the land of the free and the home of the brave. The American dream holds a place within every family. There are countless stories of immigrants coming to this country with nothing and making something of themselves. The question that keeps ringing in my head is, why do we see repeated acts of racism throughout American history? In 2020, why does the “system” insist on holding onto its deeply rooted prejudices?
