As the anesthesiology field and its role in the continuum of care continues to grow, so does the need for highly skilled anesthesia support staff. To help address this need, Johns Hopkins launched the Anesthesia Technology Program in collaboration with the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC).
Upon completion of the program, students will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree. They can then apply for certification through the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT).
The program, whose third class graduated in June 2020, is the only one in the region. It provides graduates with the resources and support to become nationally certified anesthesia technologists. This replaces the anesthesia technician certification, which ASATT no longer offers.
