The build-up in concern over diversity in anesthesiology has the potential to become a wellspring of positive activism for the stakeholders. These stakeholders are those involved in or affected by the furtherance of diversity in anesthesiology and its subspecialties. Therefore, traditionally under-represented minorities, women, LGBTQI+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, asexual, pansexual, etc.) people and their allies can play a role in diversity initiatives that promote inclusivity for practitioners as patients. The purpose of this article is to encourage persistence and dedication for trailblazers of all types who, by example, help establish a pipeline of future fearless leaders in academic anesthesiology.
