The World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA), held in Hong Kong in September 2016, is now behind us.

Held once every four years, this “Olympics” of anesthesiology meetings was a resounding success, winning high praise for the scientific program, organized by the Society of Anaesthetists of Hong Kong and the social program, as well as the conference venue, which protrudes into Hong Kong Harbour, offering spectacular views. More than 6,000 registrants from across the world attended, including 35 ASA delegates to the General Assembly, led by then-ASA President Dan Cole, M.D.

The General Assembly governs and votes on proposals brought by the officers and Council of the WFSA and member societies. Delegates from the 135 member societies that make up the WFSA approved new committee member appointments and voted for the two new presidents, officers and council members who will help run the society over the next four years.
