The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) has enjoyed an exciting year of transition and growth. Throughout the last 12 months, FAER has continued to award multiple research grants, place medical students at various academic host institutions for fellowships, send anesthesiology residents to ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2017, sponsor regional research poster presentations, while instituting new strategic planning to create forward momentum that will allow FAER to impact the specialty for decades to come.

FAER provides grant funding every year to develop the research careers of anesthesiologists who seek to answer important questions and make scientific discoveries in the areas of anesthesiology, perioperative medicine, health care delivery and medical education research. Over the course of 2017, FAER completed two rounds of grant applications. During the Spring Cycle, $1.125 million was approved for spring research grants with six grant recipients moving forward.
