The Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA) is an organization whose mission is to “Support, enrich, and advance anesthesia education and those who teach.” Our vision of “Excellence in patient care through education” is grounded in the fundamental belief that how we educate, and what we teach, lays the foundations not only for the student, but for the future of our specialty. SEA provides a venue for cross-pollination and collaboration among subspecialists in anesthesiology, where a common interest in education creates a fertile environment for innovation and collaboration. In April 2015, the SEA spring meeting was a special combined meeting with the Association for Surgical Education (ASE). The meeting created venues for collaboration across the ether screen as well as opportunities to align our educational goals and objectives, in turn creating a truly patient-centered focus on education in perioperative care.
