The ASA Resident Component (RC) Governing Council is an elected seven-member committee that directs the programs and activities for residents and fellows-in-training at the national level. Residents gain leadership experience and interact with peers and mentors in the field. Positions available include:

Any resident with 18 months or more left in residency or fellowship is eligible to apply. PGY-1, CA-1, and CA-2 residents are eligible as are CA-3 residents pursuing a fellowship. Duties and requirements of each officer position can be found in the bylaws on the website.

The election will occur during the ASA Resident Component House of Delegates meeting in October. All applicants will be afforded the opportunity to address the delegates. Terms begin immediately and are two years except the Secretary, who serves one year.
