ASA hosted its second-ever Virtual FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE this May, showcasing the continued commitment of our members to engaging in advocacy even amid the ongoing pandemic. Over 1,300 members registered for the conference, representing a record-breaking 50 states. Roughly 700 members joined live to hear about the top issues impacting the specialty. I was inspired by the physician anesthesiologists, CAAs, residents, students, and anesthesia practice administrators and executives who took the time on a Sunday to virtually attend the conference to learn more about the top policy issues and then take action to inform and engage their lawmakers.
Even in the midst of a global pandemic, the development and maintenance of strong relationships with lawmakers on Capitol Hill are still critically important and necessary to help advance our advocacy initiatives.
