The vision of Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA) is “the advancement of academic anesthesiology as a dynamic specialty that makes substantive contributions to medicine, science and society.” According to our mission statement, we do this by providing academic mentorship, creating a culture of inclusion and equity, and creating community through our annual meeting.
The focus of the AUA over the past several years has been to ensure that academic anesthesiology remains an attractive career option for medical students and physician anesthesiologists. In addition, appropriate care of our patients and viability of our specialty depend on continued accomplishment in the scholarship of discovery on topics that support advancement in our knowledge in the area of anesthesiology, pain medicine, and critical care medicine, the major focus of our Scientific Advisory Board (SAB: https://auahq.org/scientific-advisory-board/).
