Membership growth was strong in 2019. ASA ended the 2019 membership year with nearly 33,000 Active members – 3 percent growth over five years – and with over 55,000 total members – 6 percent growth over five years. An area of focus for 2019 was the Anesthesia Administrator & Executive educational membership. AA&Es had expressed interest to share opportunities and challenges among themselves, and most pay no dues since participation is free when 90 percent or more of their group’s physicians hold Active membership.
