Welcome to the November edition of “Ask the Expert!” Hopefully, most of you have been able to concoct some tolerable form of a “new” lifestyle with the arrival of autumn. I suspect most anesthesiologists, being by nature organized and structured, find the uncertainty and unpredictability of contemporary life highly unsettling. I will go out on a limb and generalize that we, who appreciate precisely arranged rows of medications and airway equipment laid out on our carts, do not appreciate chaos, nor uncertainty.
But on a more uplifting note, who doesn't have a soft spot in his/her heart for the little ones? I knowLuke Janikdoes! He is our Expert on Pediatric Anesthesiology this month. Dr. Janik is an attending physician in the NorthShore University Health System and an Assistant Professor at University of Chicago-Pritzker School of Medicine.
