The ASA Medical Student Component (MSC) Governing Council directs the programs and activities of medical students at the national level. The MSC activities are overseen by an eight-member Governing Council that is elected by the ASA Medical Student Component House of Delegates at each Annual Meeting.

Governing Council officer positions afford medical students the opportunity to interact with fellow students and mentors in the field as well as gain leadership experience and take advantage of networking opportunities. Medical students interested in serving in a leadership role are encouraged to apply for a governing council position by September 1, 2019. Positions available include
