San Francisco has emerged as a hub of science and innovation and it is fitting that ANESTHESIOLOGY 2018 celebrates our specialty’s rich tradition of research and technology in this gateway city. Sessions and events at the ANESTHESIOLOGY annual meeting are designed to highlight state-of-the-art research and technology and engage investigators at all career levels with a diverse program of scientific content, development and networking.

This year’s scientific plenary lecture, the John W. Severinghaus Lecture on Translational Science titled “The Future Starts Here, With Cues from the Past,” will be delivered by Karen B. Domino, M.D., M.P.H. Dr. Domino is known for her pioneering and transformative work on the Anesthesia Closed Claims Project and its registries. Her on-going body of work has fueled scientific innovations in the investigation of adverse events, promoted patient safety and impacted our clinical practice.
