From research laboratories to private practice, attracting the best students to mentored training, the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) is hard at work every day to help develop physician-scientists in the specialty to better care for our patients – and our impact is growing.

Since its formation in 1986, FAER has helped fuel major advancements in anesthesiology research and care. Most significantly, FAER provides a path to NIH grant funding, helping young physician-scientists learn the protocols and methods of scientific research under strong mentorship. FAER grant recipients have published nearly 20,000 manuscripts that have been cited more than half a million times. And in its 30 years, FAER has awarded more than $36.2 million in research grants.

FAER aims to raise the contribution of anesthesiology to the practice of medicine, inspiring more young anesthesiologists to pursue research and providing the support needed for productive outcomes.
