In previous columns, I have shared with you my perspective on the forces buffeting our society, health care system and thus, ASA. While there are many such forces to consider, I believe that the changing generational makeup of our members may have the greatest impact on ASA as an organization, what we do … and how we do it.
Much has been made about the approaching “grey tsunami” of retiring Baby Boomers and the impact they will have on health care in the U.S. But as great an impact as the boomers’ collective retirement will surely be, nothing will match the economic, political and social influence wielded by Generation Y (Millennials) as they settle into the workforce en masse.
