The Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC) is the only organization dedicated to neuroscience in anesthesiology and critical care. It’s the go-to society for collegial networking, debating, critiques and updates in clinical practice, education, clinical neuroscience research and, yes, basic neuroscience research relevant to neuroanesthesia, neurocritical care and neuromonitoring.
SNACC was conceived in the years before its first meeting in 1973 by a handful of now legendary neuroanesthesiologists, including Drs. Albin, Shapiro, Michenfelder, Harp and many others with a vision for neuroanesthesia. Now in its 43rd year, SNACC members are active clinicians, researchers and leaders in promoting clinical practice, education, and research in pediatric and adult neurosurgical anesthesia, intraoperative neuromonitoring and neurocritical care. Two comprehensive reviews of the history of SNACC have been published.1,2
