Physician Anesthesiologists Week 2016, the second annual celebration of our specialty, brought together ASA members from across the country to advocate for safe, high-quality physician-led anesthesia care for all patients. Engaging in a variety of grassroots advocacy and communications activities, our members joined forces to underscore that when seconds count, physician anesthesiologists save lives.
During the week, messages about the role physician anesthesiologists play in protecting patient safety reached key audiences, including policymakers, members of the media and the public. Through social media engagement, state and local proclamations, media outreach and in-person meetings with colleagues and legislators, members took the lead on sharing key messages about the specialty and personal patient experiences.
