For centuries, the media has played an important role in society, reporting on all topics of interest, personalities and governments. Cast as “The Fourth Estate” in 1787 by Edmund Burke, a British politician who noted the first three estates of British Parliament and then said, “but in the reporter’s gallery yonder, there sits a fourth estate more important far than them all.” This is the first known published reference to the media and the powerful role it plays in shaping public opinion.
