December marks, for me, the best time of the year. It is a time we reunite and celebrate with our families. In our personal, business and organizational lives, we reflect, assess our achievements, consider what might have gone better and look forward to the next year. In that vein, I wanted to take stock of 2014.

This was a year of substantial progress. There are many examples:

As we look forward to 2015, we recognize the challenges of attending to the basics, like improving member value, while also carrying out our ambitious agenda when major changes such as organizational consolidation, changes in health care delivery and new payment trends impact our members on a daily basis. But I believe we have the right people in place to accomplish our mission.
